From March 27th through 28th, Consul General Huang Ping visited Albany, the capital of New York State, and met with dignitaries including Toby A. Stavisky, Majority Conference Vice-Chair of the New York State Senate, John J. Flanagan, Minority Leader of the New York State Senate, Senator David Carlucci and James Sanders Jr., assistant speaker Félix W. Ortiz, Assemblymen Peter J. Abbate, Jr., Daniel Rosenthal, Catalina Cruz, Carmen N. De La Rosa, Nader J. Sayegh, Steven Cymbrowitz, Anthony D'Urso, and Brian Barnwell, as well as Kathy Sheehan, the Mayor of Albany.

Huang Ping introduced the current China-US relations briefly, and made positive comments on the practical cooperation between New York State and China in various fields. According to Huang Ping, 2019 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the United States. The two countries have deepened exchanges and cooperation in various fields and deepened the convergence of interests in the past four decades. Recently, China and the United States have been actively engaging in consultations on differences in economy, trade, and other areas so that a mutually beneficial agreement could be reached as soon as possible. In fact, China and New York State have conducted frequent exchanges and cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, education, and culture, which have brought great benefits to the peoples of the two nations. We hope that the New York State Assembly and the Albany Government would continue to support exchanges and cooperation with China and contribute to further development of bilateral relations.

Toby A. Stavisky and other senators indicated that China has made remarkable achievements in development in recent years, and there are many lessons for the US to learn from. The overseas Chinese in New York State have made positive contributions to the local economic and social development, which have been recognized by the community. The New York State Assembly firmly supports building good relations with China, and is willing to actively promote cooperation between New York State and China in education, infrastructure construction, and other fields. He also welcomes Chinese enterprises, tourists, and students to invest, travel, and study in New York State.
Kathy Sheehan, the Mayor of Albany, pointed out that she herself has fond feelings for China while Albany attaches great importance to cooperation with China. Since Albany's development needs talented people from all over the world, including China, the Municipal Government will continue to support bilateral exchanges and cooperation in economy, trade, and humanities between the two sides.
